I love painting still life and outdoor settings from direct observation, using vibrant pigments and complex imagery. I choose my subjects primarily for their color and pattern, as well as their reflective and transparent qualities. I often pick items that have sentimental value or conjure up a fond memory. I hope my art conveys a vision of optimism and brightness.
I began painting at age 5 alongside my father who was a creative inspiration throughout my life. My love of color and design led me to study painting and art history at SUNY Albany and NYU. There, I had the opportunity to study with realist painters Mark Greenwald and Idelle Weber, who sparked my passion for realism. After graduation, I worked at OK Harris and Knoedler Gallery in NYC, where I saw Photorealist and Abstract Expressionist work by master artists on a daily basis.
I took a hiatus from painting to focus on parenting my three young children and resumed my work in 2007 upon their urging. Since then, I have exhibited at juried shows at the Rye Arts Center and the Beaux Arts shows in Dobbs Ferry and Bronxville, winning many Best in Show and First Place awards for my oil paintings. I have had solo shows at the Martucci Gallery in Irvington, the West Hampton Library, and the Donald Gallery in Dobbs Ferry.
